The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre.
Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University.
The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).
Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Supervisor of the Research Institute of the MUHC (RIMUHC), the Senior Facilities Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance and repairs of facilities services including water, lighting, heating, air conditioning, gas, vacuum supply and various other infrastructure support systems to ensure their availability and reliability.
The incumbent will also analyze needs and participate in the design and installation projects for such systems. He (she) may be asked to manage projects and will also assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures related to his area of responsibilities.
Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures related to facilities service maintenance
Inspect and perform tests on facilities systems on a regular basis as required, coordinate with MUHC Technical Service
team or Glen O&M staff, provide status reports and maintain electronic records of activities and events using the facility
maintenance management system,
Participate in the on call system and respond to facilities systems breakdowns and utility outages (emergency or planned).
Plan for utility outages and troubleshooting to determine faults, and initiate repairs of facilities systems,
Coordinate and supervise preventive and proactive maintenance and repairs of systems under his responsibility. Review
and sign off contractors work orders, follow-up and process invoicing, manage specific project budgets and assist
infrastructure manager in preparing of yearly maintenance budget,
Evaluate needs and participate in the planning, design and monitoring of equipment installation and startup for projects
involving installation of facilities systems and equipment, may be asked to manage equipment installation projects,
Provide training, and lead teams on specific projects.

Education / Experience
DEC or bachelor's degree in building systems engineering, Electro-mechanical
engineering, or equivalent from an accredited institution,
2 -3 years minimum experience with facilities systems, to include 2 years in institutional
- Experience in biomedical research environment is advantageous,
- Excellent French and English, spoken and written,
- Solid verbal and written communication skills,
- Good analytical skills,
- Good team work and customer relation skills,
- Computer literate with knowledge of MS Office software with database familiarity,
- Knowledge of AutoCad and ability to read electrical, plumbing and HVAC blueprints,
- Membre of l’ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (P. Eng. or CEP), Is a plus.
