Product Development Engineer (Biomedical or biomechanics)
OssKin is a fast-growing Montreal-based MedTech company specialized in the development and manufacturing of wearable medical devices, utilizing proprietary mass customization software and 3D printing technology.
Responsibilities :
OssKin is seeking a Product Development Engineer to participate directly in developing custom orthopedic products fabricated through additive manufacturing (3D printing). The candidate will determine design requirements, plan and execute mechanical device designs, develop CAD models (SolidWorks), test prototypes, and produce comprehensive documentation. Additional responsibilities include :
- Develop new products and optimize existing ones
- Manage the entire product development cycle: ideation, specification, development, release, analysis, and iteration
- Meet with clients and users to understand mechanical applications and requirements
- Design mechanical components using CAD software
- Conduct computer simulations and experiments to test and refine designs virtually
- Develop and oversee physical prototypes for testing
- Support laboratory and field testing to ensure performance compliance
- Document design processes, iterations, and test results
- Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets
- Collaborate with clients, designers, engineers, and suppliers for coherence
- Prepare technical reports, design specifications, and operational manuals
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, with specialization in biomedical engineering or biomechanics a plus
- At least 3 years of professional experience in product or mechanical engineering roles
- Proficiency in engineering design software such as SolidWorks and SW Simulation
- Experience in project management and agile methodologies
- Knowledge of Freeform surface modeling
- Deep understanding of product design, development, and manufacturing processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Fluent in both French and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and critical thinking
- Autonomous, results-driven, and comfortable in a start-up environment
