Overview

Established in 1997, SCIREQ is a world leader in the conception, design and manufacturing of precision laboratory equipment for preclinical respiratory research. We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary product development team. The individual has a desire to work in a small business environment with a focus on cutting-edge technology. As a Senior Electrical Engineer at SCIREQ, you will be involved with many aspects of the product life cycle, including conception, design, verification, validation, launch and customer support.

Responsibilities

  • Design engineering for innovative scientific instruments that integrate electromechanical components, digital data acquisition and real-time control and analysis
  • Designing mixed signal (analog, digital) electronic circuits and PCBs
  • Developing embedded applications (e.g. firmware)
  • Designing and testing digital signal processing algorithms
  • Developing manufacturing procedures and test protocols
  • Investigating and selecting relevant technologies offered by manufacturing suppliers
  • Assisting our production team in implementing automated hardware and system test strategies
  • Performing experimental product validation studies
  • Occasionally helping our technical support and production teams understand and resolve complex issues

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Applicant must be proficient in C, C++
  • Experience with biomedical signals
  • Experience with VHDL programming
  • Experience with digital oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
  • Experience with design and development of microprocessor-based instrumentation systems
  • Experience with UART, TCP/IP, SPI and PWM
  • Experience with electrical schematic layout and PCB design (e.g. Altium Designer)
  • Hands-on prototype development experience including surface-mount soldering, 3D printing and troubleshooting
  • Applicant must be proficient in general computing, including knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Strong electrical aptitude & creativity demonstrated through past work experience, supplementary education, hobbies, etc.
  • The ability to work efficiently, both independently and as part of a team
  • Detail oriented and analytical
  • Excellent ability to write and speak in English and French

Assets

  • Work experience in biomedical instrumentation
  • Knowledge of RTOS
  • Knowledge of version control software (e.g. subversion)
  • Familiarity or work experience with Agile project management
  • Experience with embedded Linux
