Overview
A leading global supplier of ITAR-Free controls and simulation solutions is seeking a Safety Specialist to support a major naval project. The company provides advanced technologies for marine, power, and space sectors, including autonomous surface vessels and situational awareness solutions for commercial and military clients worldwide.
You will join a team of five safety professionals, with each member dedicated to a specific project. This role will focus on supporting the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) program.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct system and software safety assessments of the Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS)
- Assess system safety integrity levels
- Develop safety documentation including:
- System Safety Program Plans
- Hazard Analyses
- Safety Assessment Reports
- Safety Verification Plans
- Analyze customer safety requirements and provide estimates
- Perform FMECA, FMEDA, and FTA
- Generate Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) deliverables from vendor data:
- LSAR, LORA, RBD
- Spares analysis
- Technical manuals
- Disposal plans
- Hazardous materials analysis
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years in system safety, software safety, or RMAS (certification, FMEA, traceability)
- Experience in software and/or electronics environments
- Interest or experience in ILS
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and proactively
Nice to Have:
- Industries: medical, marine, defense, aerospace, avionics, or transport
- Familiarity with:
- MIL-STD 882, IEC61508, DEF STAN 00-56
- Hazard and risk analysis
- Safety analysis reports and safety cases
- Safety requirements specifications
- Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD)
- ASD specifications (S1000D, S2000M)
- Safety certification processes
- Technical knowledge in:
- C++, Ada
- Naval, aerospace, avionics, or transport systems
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $75.00 / hr.
Workplace Type
This is a hybrid position in Saint-Laurent, QC.
