The Naval World intrigues you!
Version française ci-dessous
Are you looking to take up challenges in the development of HVAC-R solutions & equipment for the Naval industry? Do you want to actively contribute to projects from design to manufacturing, testing and up to delivery? Do you have an entrepreneurial mindset, and are you customer driven?
If you are looking for stimulating challenges and being part of an ambitious and passionate team, we want to meet you!
Who are we?
A global leader of naval, military and marine Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) systems & equipment. Bronswerk provides turnkey solutions for commercial and military vessels through its 12 offices worldwide. Bronswerk manages the entire process, from design to commissioning, installation and in‑service support.
Your challenge :
Working closely with the project team and reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Project Engineer Mechanical will be actively participating in the execution of HVAC system design projects and / or participating in the execution of equipment design projects through their full lifecycle (from design to delivery).
While helping to develop the most effective HVAC‑R solutions for various marine applications, the Project Engineer Mechanical will also support the team in resolving client technical issues and concerns.
This is an excellent opportunity for an entry‑level engineer or recent graduate to develop hands‑on experience in HVAC‑R systems in the marine sector.
With guidance from the Director of Engineering and the project team, you will :
- Design HVAC‑R systems by performing heat load, air balance, pressure loss, and noise calculations, sizing ducting and piping, preparing single line diagrams, P&IDs, control philosophies and block diagrams, and perform equipment selections for major system equipment and inline components.
- Participate in identifying functional requirements and vendors as needed.
- Create and revise 2D drawings and sometimes 3D models for standard system components forming part of Bronswerk’s standard equipment library.
- Design and select specialized refrigeration, cooling, heating, or ventilation components and equipment required for military and commercial marine applications.
- Perform or support calculations for equipment characteristics such as resilience to shock and vibration, structural strength, center of gravity, cooling and heating capacities, pressure drops, noise, heat dissipation, and other client driven requirements.
- Work with mechanical designers to develop 3D models, client drawings, production drawings, bills of materials for procurement, and equipment P&IDs.
- Design test procedures to validate the efficacy of equipment including procedures to meet military specifications and other qualification requirements.
- Prepare schedules of costs including labour (detailed design, engineering, production, testing, qualification, installation), materials, and components for review by the Project Manager.
- Prepare technical deliverables related to projects including technical specifications and data sheets, installation / operating / maintenance manuals, training materials, and various other supporting documentation as required by the client.
- Conduct configuration control on all engineering documents and drawings.
- Assist the Project Manager in identifying and resolving project issues and risks.
- Conduct or participate in procurement and quality assurance inspection activities.
- Oversee the production and testing of equipment and / or prototypes.
- Coordinate with clients and support installation managers during the installation phase.
- Participate in commissioning of the installed system or equipment including start-up, performing air balancing, troubleshooting, and sell‑off to the client.
- Be called upon to assist with preparing technical quotations, assisting with system start‑ups on board ships, and performing Factory Acceptance Tests, Harbour Acceptance Tests, and Sea Acceptance Tests as needed.
